ABOUT US

OUR SUCCESS STORY

Funky Tails Doberman evolved from the love of owning our first Doberman. Owned my first European Doberman in the early seventies when I was just a child. The Alves first family, Doberman, found us. He was a stray we ended up naming Moe. Over time, Moe became another extension of our family and a great family fixture that everyone loved.
Like a loyal Doberman and faithful companion, Moe never left our side. He joined me every day to complete my paper route. He was a beautiful dog, which consistently received compliments on his appearance and temperament. Moe passed from old age, and I will never forget him. Moe’s personality and loyalty have left a lifelong impression on me. I still adorn pictures of my old friend Moe on my wall to this day. Since Moe, I have had several breeds of dogs, ranging from German Shepherd to American Staffs. All have had a special place in my heart and life!

Our Program

Puppy Culture

We raise our puppies on the Puppy Culture program. This is a socialization program which begins at birth and continues through 12 weeks of age. Our pups are introduced to Early Neurological Stimulation (starting at three days old), startle/recovery exercises, canine audio therapy, umbrellas, baby toys, crinkle toys, uneven surfaces, ramps, empty boxes, other dogs and children.  They have their nails trimmed weekly, receive regular baths, get one-on-one work, have their ears played with, have their feet played with, are laid on their backs for tummy massage, spend individual time in the crate, are clicker trained, introduced to wearing a collar and will have learned to solve challenging situations. We are amazed at how well our puppies respond to the Puppy Culture program.  Although it is an incredible amount of work, it is so rewarding to see our babies grow and progress with such confidence!

Our Kennel

Raised in Home

We pride ourselves in running a small, educated, home based program where all of our dogs are part of the family. We have worked hard to import dogs that are healthy, loving and have strong pedigrees. All of our breeding dogs have their patella’s checked, have their backs x-rayed at the optimal age (to test for IVDD) and are PRA tested.  We may be small, but we take what we do very seriously.

Breeding and sales Process

At HOME OF DOBERMAN PINSCHER we are dedicated to preserving the correct Doberman temperament, conformation and health.  We are active in showing in Conformation and performance (obedience, rally, agility, etc.) events with our Dobermans and are members of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America.

We do not have a kennel, our dogs are part of the family and graciously allow us to live in their home.  Our dogs are fully health tested and our breeding program prioritizes health and longevity.  Puppies born here are a labor of love and as such prospective homes are well screened in an attempt to insure a safe, responsible, loving, forever home for each and every puppy.

We do not have a kennel.  Our dogs all live in our home as family members.  Puppies are whelped in our home in close proximity to all the usual household goings on.  Puppies are well socialized, exposed to many new things.  Puppies are crate trained, leash trained (more or less) and have been started on housebreaking by the time they go to their new homes.  We take our puppies/dogs back anytime for any reason, and all puppy buyers sign a contract stating that the dog will be returned to us should an owner be unable to keep him/her.

All of our dogs are health tested for genetic problems applicable to the breed. (i.e. – Cardio, Liver, Kidney, Thyroid, vWD, Hips, etc.)  We make every effort to insure we breed healthy dogs with excellent temperaments and longevity.   In addition to genetics— environment, vaccination history, and diet also contribute to a dogs overall health and longevity.  If you are considering a Doberman, you should educate yourself thoroughly on the breed’s temperament, personality and other issues.

Our dogs are fed a natural, species appropriate raw diet along with a holistic, highly nutritious kibble.  Puppies are weaned to this same diet.  Puppies are holistically and naturally raised with minimal vaccinations, no chemicals and no antibiotics.
